1. Where does the Agee Memorial Wildlife Fund and Fat Kitty City get its funding?
A funds are raised through adoption fees, surrender fees, and donations. All labor comes from unpaid volunteers. Fat Kitty City.org does not received any government funding.
2. Where do the residents of Fat Kitty CIty come from?
Many of our residents are abandoned or abused animals that have no other option but to be killed. Fat Kitty City is their last chance. Sadly, the economic downturn has also resulted in a huge increase in people surrendering their pets because they can no longer keep them.
3. What kinds of donations does your organization need?
The most pressing need is always for cash donations, which help us provide for the resident cats, as well as support our low cost spay and neuter programs. In addition, in-kind donations are helpful. You can see a current Wish List of items that are in most need. We also ask that you consider a Will or other Bequest though Planned Giving. Always consult legal and financial advisors to assist you in setting up this type of bequest. We also have a number of Easy Ways to Help, with your purchases generating contributions so we may continue our work.
4. Does the Fat Kitty City accept feral cats?
We presently support a large community of feral cats at Fat Kitty City. Contact us with your specific need and we can try to help. We also help place feral cats, that would otherwise be unadoptable in our Barn Cat program.
5. Does the Fat Kitty City accept FIV+ and FeLV+ cats?
Yes, we do.
6. Do the cats really roam around free at Fat Kitty City?
Most of the residents do roam a 3/4 acre, fenced area, with several sheds available for them to get out of inclement weather. We do have some cages that are used for temporary housing as new cats become acclimated to their new environment or require medical treatment.
7. What other services does your organization provide?
Fat Kitty City.org provides low cost spay and neuter services, a Barn Cat program, to place feral cats that are otherwise unsuitable to be adopted, and Kitties for Companionship which places cats in retirement or assisted living homes.
8. Where can I see the cats that are available for adoption?
Many of our cats and kittens that are available for adoption can be seen at the *Folsom PetSmart (the "old" PetSmart off East Bidwell near Home Depot) every Friday 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm and Sunday 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm.
