Josie

Josie

October 20, 2011

Josie's fight came to an end today. As some might know, she went down over the weekend (fever of 106.+) and was taken to the vet (Pleasant Valley) on Monday. She was given aggressive therapy (fluids, antibiotics, injections, force fed) along with blood work, to try and find out what was wrong. Unfortunately, the tests came back today showing serious liver issues (hepatitis). Josie was refusing to eat and wasn't doing well. Because she wasn't responding to treatment, it was evident that she wasn't going to get any better and the vets decided to put her to sleep before her suffering got any worse. Linda, who brought us Josie over six (6) months ago, was with her today when she was laid to rest. Our hearts are broken. Josie was a big part of the sanctuary and will be sorely missed.

Marni

Marni

Marni was euthanized at the vets office as she was dying of a mass tumor on her liver, the size of a golf ball. Thank you all so much for your sacrifice and devotion to these cats while they live out their lives in peace. Marni will be very much missed.

Sunshine

Sunshine

Sunshine recently passed away and he will be dearly missed by all. He was buried by the Rosemary bushes in the cemetery, if any of our volunteers would like to visit with him. He has joined all the other cats who have shared their lives in peace here at Fat Kitty City.

Marley Dude

Marley Dude

April 2010 - December 2010

Marley Dude

On December 10th, Marley was rushed to the emergency room and unfortunately, had to be euthanized. He had a condition called "Intussusception" and was going into renal failure, as a secondary condition of the Intussusception. He will be missed terribly. Marley's condition was not evident until it was too late. As everyone knows, Marley had been treated on and off for an eye condition and was showing signs of improvement. We were never able to put him up for adoption because his eye continually ran and gave the appearance that he was sick. Even thought he wasn't actually sick in all the months we had him, we never felt comfortable enough with taking him to Petsmart and Marley just loved the sanctuary! There was no better place on earth than Fat Kitty City. However, Marley didn't know, but actually he is in a better place now. May he rest in peace.

Winston

Winston (Winny) 1989-2010

Winston will be sorely missed by everyone who ever had the pleasure to know him. He was a one of a kind cat and sadly there will never be another Winston.

Lizard

Shortly after Lizard came to Fat Kitty City he was diagnosed with a mass Lymphoma in his abdomen, which is very common with cats that are positive for Leukemia. Even though he was only with us such a short while, he will be missed greatly.

HunterHunter crossed the Bridge the last week in August of 2010. "Hunter was definitely special.  I first saw him in the acclimation cage, and he was so obviously somebody's fat and pampered house kitty that I wondered how he'd ended up at the sanctuary.  He was very intelligent, and even through the acclimation wire he would speak up, like he was saying, "Look at me!  I'm all by myself and desperately need some stimulation!"  He attacked the fishing pole with gusto, killing the feathers and trying to drag them off into the cage.  Once he was out of acclimation, he would stake out a claim to my lap when I'd come to visit him.  We became each other's favorite, and even after he was so sick he'd make sure he got some petting time. I was excited to hear he got adopted, so I was sad to hear he'd passed away."

Mookie

Beautiful Mookie crossed the Bridge the last week in August of 2010. "Mookie loved affection and she'd follow me around with the "silent mew"--she'd open her mouth, but hardly any sound would come out. She also liked to be in the recovery room and could be pretty sneaky about following you in there when she wanted to!"

DelilahDelilah came to us on March 5, 2009 because her owner had a lung disease and was deathly allergic and her health depended on her being away from animals and several other conditions in the environment. Delilah wasn't very happy about being given up and had much to say about it. She would lash out at people and was severely overweight. Throughout the time she was here, she learned to adapt to the other cats here and make friends. Delilah enjoyed being involved in conversation, being brushed and of course, her treats. As time went on she continued to lose weight which was a result of her chronic Stomatitis. Unfortunately, even with antibiotics and steroids, it wasn't enough to combat her condition and the infection spread through her blood stream and she unfortunately lost the fight on February 19, 2010.
