For over 20 years, Fat Kitty City has been, and always will be, a haven for cats who have nowhere else to go. While we work to place adoptable cats in loving homes, our hearts belong to the shy, misunderstood, “unadoptable” cats that most shelters reject or euthanize. Here they can live freely, without judgment or expectation. As long as there is a need, Fat Kitty City will be there to meet it. We live by one promise: No Cat Left Behind.
More Than a Shelter
Our sanctuary is a lot different than a shelter. First, we have our enclosure: 2 acres of tree-studded land where our cats can climb, run, and play freely – no cages (after acclimation). Secondly, our promise to them: no expectations, ever. There’s no good cat or bad cat, just cats who like humans and cats that prefer to be on their own. And we respect that. Last but not least, we do not have a euthanasia list. Fat Kitty City is committed to lifelong care for their residents, and euthanasia is only considered a humane solution to painful, untreatable illness that significantly compromises a cat’s quality of life. We don’t just house cats – we listen to their stories, give them safety, and help them heal. And for many, this sanctuary is the first real home they’ve ever known.
Committed To Our Community
Fat Kitty City is woven into the fabric of our local community. From feeding struggling families’ pets to educating future animal advocates, we believe lasting change happens when people and animals thrive together. Fat Kitty City is where compassion extends beyond the gates and into every home, and a big part of our mission is keeping pets and their people together, especially during hard times. For this reason, we have launched many Community Programs – including Affordable Spay, Neuter & Vet Care, a community Food Bank, and our Home To Home adoption aid. To streamline operations and maximize the impact of every dollar, funds raised by FKCHS through online donations, fundraising events, adoption and surrender fees, and collection drives are deposited into an AMWF account. This arrangement allows the two organizations to efficiently combine their efforts and resources, while maintaining compliance with nonprofit regulations. By donating to Fat Kitty City Humane Society or Agee Memorial Wildlife Fund, you are directly supporting the same mission, and helping animals in need. Both organizations are committed to operating transparently and in alignment with all applicable nonprofit laws
